I'm shocked to see positive reviews for this company
World Moving Services is a moving "broker". This means they have no trucks of their own, and try to arrange service with a bevy of independent truck services. This was pitched to me as an advantage, as if one company had a truck problem, they had a pool of people to draw from, this is NOT the case. My fiancee and I contracted with WMS in March, 2011 for a August move from Philadelphia, PA to Tulsa, OK. We provided them with a $981 deposit, about half the total moving quote of 1,780 for 3,000 pounds. During the quoting process they are extremely solicitous, and responsive, I got calls daily. A week before the move I contacted them, as per their instructions, to get a pick-up time. They said a truck would be available on 8/2 a day after the agreed upon date, but within their contract. I was dissapointed, but hey, stuff happens, I let my landlord know I'd be vacating a day late, and he was cool with it, so no damage. On the day of the move, I called for a time. Was on hold for a half an hour, finally got Lotya (notice how this name shows up in a lot of reviews). Was told I couldn't get moved until the fifth, which I said was unacceptable. She told me she would try to find a truck and contact me by "close of business" (Which means in WMS speak 'never'). This initiated a two week period where I called their Customer Service two times a day. It turns out that by saying 8/5 (for a contracted 9/30-8/2 pickup) was 'unacceptable' I gave up the right to that truck and basically the question was could they find me a truck. As they are a broker, and have no trucks, what I suspect is they could not find a carrier willing to do my move at the low price they quoted me in March. Their customer service is reprehensible. Long hold times, and representatives often hang up on you if they can't answer your concerns. I dealt with Karlos Stevenson and Latoya, and they both were awful. I was repeatedly told they were 'out sick' only to dial in on the 800 line again and get them. I don't think I've ever been hung up on by customer service before, but it happened often with WMS. After two weeks, I cancelled the move. My fiancee was already out in Tulsa living in an apartment with no furniture except for an air mattress and a folding chair. I ended up having to rent a 24' U-haul, loading it myself, and driving out with my car in tow. One of the hardest things I've ever done. Worldwide Moving Services did eventually refund my deposit, so I'm only out the two weeks of pro-rated rent, one pissed off landlord, some sore muscles, and fiancee who had to live for nearly a month in an empty apartment. They only did so when I complained to the BBB, Florida DOT, and Florida's Consumer Protection Agency. I suggest if you have dealt with them to do so. The Florida DOT seemed to feel this was not the first time they had heard about this "broker" Do not use them under any circumstances.

Business's response - by JasonVon 3/26/2012
Mr. Stevens, After reviewing your post, we were able to locate your account in our database with the information provided. We notice, unfortunately we were unable to execute your relocation within the estimated dates supplied. The nature of the moving industry is one that is vulnerable to delay occurrences. Our contracts are drafted with this in mind as stated in the Terms & Conditions included in the documentation your received during your booking process. We make every effort in performing our customers' moves within the estimated moving dates as contracted and try to accommodate our customers despite circumstances that occur beyond our control but unfortunately at times our efforts prove futile. If we are unable to render services at the end of the contracted date, our customers can either accept an offer to be picked up at a later date which we ensure is convenient for them or they have the right to a full refund of their deposit if they decide to dismiss our services. Due to our incapability to render services within a mutually reasonable time frame, your account reflects that your order was canceled at your request of service dismissal and a full refund of your deposit was issued. World Moving Services would like to apologize for the unsuccessful efforts in providing services for your relocation and the inconveniences it may have caused. We value your shared feedback and appreciate the opportunity you provided us to coordinate your relocation. Thank you. Sincerely, World Moving Services
