WCUI - A positive learning experience
|
I have had the pleasure of attending the echo program at this institution and can say with conviction that the staff and the higher ups are all about the students and depend on the students' input and feedback to continually improve the programs. I worked hard to be near the top of my class, and was able to be placed in my first choice of externship sites at Cedars. I was exposed to pathologies there that greatly increased my skills and ability to diagnose.
I recently passed my RDCS boards and have been applying to jobs with the help of the career services department. Their team healped me with my resume, my interviewing skills, and submiited me to positions in my desired hospital setting within 50 miles of my apartment. I have interviewed a few times, and have had one offer to date, which I am still considering. Yes, I have plenty of students loans to repay, but I am confident that I will be in a high paying hospital job very soon.
So yes, I am extremely glad I stuck with this program, and for the most part, aside from the difficulty in finding parking, have nothing but good things to say about WCUI. You get out of education what you put into it. I worked hard and took the initiative to get me into a position to be very succesful, and I owe a lot of that to the school and its intructors who I found to be extrememly knowledgeable, and helpful outside of the classroom. Beyond that, the staff and CEO all have an open door policy which allowed me to voice any concerns that I had with the classes and scheduling. They were always open to listening and addressed my issues in a timely fashion, which I greatly appreciated.
The Echo program at West Coast, combined with my experience with the Cardiology department at my externship has also inspired me to pursue medical school, a path that I would have never thought I could do without the encouragement of my instructors and the physicians at my externship. In the meantime, I look forward to working in the echocardiographic imaging field and also working to get certified in abdominal. THANK YOU WCUI!!
