Review 8/4/2011

VPI Insurance is a terrible insurance company. They take your monthly premiums but will find any method possible to avoid reimbursing you for a claim.
I submitted all my medical records for my 8-year old Boxer to get him approved. Everything went through fine. He had 1 pre-existing condition.
However, after my husband and I were told by the vet that it appeared he had a lump on his leg, which turned out to be a sheath cell tumor that is logically aggressive, we took him in to get it removed.
When we submitted the claim they refused to reimburse us because "the tumor had been incubating in his body" so they (VPI NOT THE VET) determined it was a pre-existing condition. Because we took him in after the policy became active and this was found by the doctor, we must have known about it and didn't disclose it to them.
First, we didn't find it... the doctor found it. Second, it was a logically aggressive tumor so it grew in one spot very quickly. And third, when did an insurance company have the right to determine a pre-existing condition without an licensed veterinarian stating any previous problems on his medical records which dated back to 2009 to 2011.
Again, they freely take your monthly premiums but will conjure up a reason as to not reimburse you for any claim. They had ALL his medical records, which I submitted to them numerous times, and ONLY after he had the tumor removed did they decide it was a pre-existing condition.
VPI Insurance uses the love and concern pet owners have for their pets to make money off of them. They do not care one iota about helping people who have pets.
Stay clear... VPI Insurance is a fraud... a scam!! I wasted too much money and too much time with them. Not worth it!!
