Regular Joe, pleased with TRS
|
I assure you, I am a regular Joe like yourselves. I'm not sure what happened or why some on this thread have had issues. I guess the adage you cant please everyone all the time is true. As for my situation, I guess I'm like alot of you, in over my head with the IRS, having my balance grow year after year and struggling just to make the payments on the prior years tax agreements. After getting a letter from the IRS that my balance had exceeded what they will willingly finance over 60 months without a review, I knew I had to do something. I even contacted local attorneys who suggested Bankruptcy but that process would leave me with the most current 2 years of taxes unresolved PLUS the most current year so even after that, I would still start from the same hole as before. I checked into some of the tax help companies and yes, some of those guys were shut down, it wasnt necessarily a scheme of "OIC isnt a legal avenue" but according to what I read the companies simply took fees and ran. For us the entire process took almost a year and a half but the alternative was seizure, bankruptcy court, financial ruin. TRS successfully lobbied to keep the IRS from placing a lien on our property, and we ended up settling for less than 10 cents on the dollar-less than 5 actually. Pleased? Happy with TRS? absolutely.
