Customer service varies by store. Usually, you have to seek out someone to help you, which is much easier in a store that is not busy. I recently asked a store clerk about a certain size and type of envelope. She was able to direct me right to the item I needed. Another time, I was looking at language CD's in the same store when a clerk approached me and helped me find the CD that best fit my needs.
Prices can be high, but Staples does offer good deals on certain items.
