I hired Dan Shanks Pest Management to tent my home for termites not realizing that he was sub-contracting the work out to Southwood Pest Control, Inc. Southwood arrived on June 10th, 2009 to tent my home and I had taken the precaution of packing most of my jewellery to take with me but forgot a small box of very expensive Diamond, Opal, and Pearl earring's on my dresser top. When I arrived home on June 12th I discovered that my earring's were missing and that my office file cabinets had been gone though, items moved, my roommate had a gun locked in a plastic box and there was evidence that someone tried to pry it open. Also discovered a full salt shaker had been removed from a kitchen cabinet and hidden in the back of one of my utensil drawers and a small cup full of salt was left sitting on a shelf. I mention the salt because I was assured that part of their job was to bag any foodstuffs that I had forgotten to remove. It's obvious that the man who entered the house to check it before tenting was more interested in what he could find to put in his pockets rather than doing his job. Unfortunately the diamond earring's and opal earring's were from my mother and aside from being valuable they are not replaceable and the only inheritance I received from my mother. The owner of Southwood Pest Control didn't even show me the courtesy of talking to me and instead had the thief call me to "assure me he wasn't a thief". I wouldn't trust this company to enter your home for any reason.
