Business's response - by Snider & Son Roofing Incon 11/12/2009

In response to Mrs S -- Snider & Son Roofing Inc was hired to fill out an insurance mitigation form. Upon inspecting her roof she was explained that her roof was older and in need of maintanence. She was presented with our folder and informed on a product that could have a warranty up to 10 years. The manufacturer requires the roofing contractor to be trained and certified with their product before offering it to the consumer with any option of a warranty. As a roofing contractor we cannot stop a consumer from purchasing this product and applying it themselves. The mitigation form was filled out by our salesman. It was to be signed by the roofing qualifier which he did not do, therefore, it was rejected. When Mrs. S informed us of this problem, the original salesman that was sent to her home was no longer employed by us. We then sent out our inspector and reinspected their roof. We filled out a new mitigation form and it was signed by our qualifier and was sent to the insurance company. This form does not have a pass - fail option. It is a professional opinion of the condition of the roof, age, and remaining life expectancy. It is used by insurance companies to determine the depreciation to be taken in the event there is a claim. The newer the roof the less likely damage could occur during a storm. The insurance company determines the rate accordingly. Mrs. S requsted us to fill out the form using a longer lifespan than we felt the roof had. We did complete the form with our opinion of what we felt was correct for their roof. Unfortunatly their insurance did not give them the rate reduction as they had hoped again, because their roof needs maintanence. The sole purpose of our sales call was to fill out their insurance mitigation form, which we did. The only thing we refused to do was lie on the form using what they wanted us to use as the life expectancy of their roof which was not correct. Jason and Jeri Snider - Snider & Son Roofing, Inc
