I find Sears to be a mixed bag of good & bad. They have a store close by, and their selection is usually pretty good, but not for everything. For clothes I can usually find a name brand (e.g. Levi's) that I like, or their own brand is often decent quality too, and cheaper. but for DVDs for example, the selection is very limited, so I wouldn't go there just for that. On the other hand, if I am already there for soemthing else then I'll check the DVD section because they usually have at least a few at a ver low (e.g. $5) sale price. Their customer service is pretty poor. For example, I've had to get back in line for something I just bought because (as I had told her BEFORE she rang it up) that price really was the lower one I had quoted her, not the one the register claimed it to be... why didn't she check first instead of insisting she was right and making me have to double-check it on the way out and then wait in line again to get it right? And you usually have to wait a while for advice from a salesperson that may not know much anyway. And do NOT join the rewards program unless you want endless emails on a daily basis from multiple companies. I get one or more everyday!
They have a very good price guarantee; they will match the best price you find from another (non-online) store, plus 10% of the difference. So do your research first and then just point them (in their software) to the lower price you found elsewhere. One trick: be sure not to match with a lower price at a different Sears location or they won't add the 10%.
So overall I give 3 stars; 4 to 5 stars for price & quality in certain things & convenience, and 1.5 to 2 stars for customer service and limited selection in some sections.
