Poor communication, beautiful gown.
|
I ordered two dresses from Belinda. I asked how long it takes to make the dresses and when they would be ready. This as a customer, I expect the business owner to know deadlines, and to follow through with them. When doing the payment transaction she was very fast to respond and answering all my questions. After that, it went downhill. It seemed as every email I either got no response, where I would have to email again, or it would be a short response and full of excuses. Every email was an excuse, whether it be that she had personal problems or something came up. Either way it resulted in me emailing again and again trying to get an answer or another excuse. I was so concerned that I might have be scammed I looked up reviews on her and came across this page. Her bad communication seems to be a trend that has been happing for years as I have read several others with the same issue. To be honest it was very stressful as I told her in the beginning when I needed them and she agreed to it. I received the dresses 2 months later than I asked for. So if I had been needed them by when I asked for them, I would have been screwed. For a business, communication is key with your customer is key, so not responding and or saying excuses is pretty bad business and the customer will not want to work with the business or recommend the business to others. This is what happened. Now, her work is very beautiful and I was very impressed with the dresses themselves. In the end, I would not do it again, due to the stress of spending so much money and the business looking “shady” due to bad communication.
From other reviews I have read, it seems she does very good work and knows what she is doing. But the communication issue seems to be a reoccurring problem.

Business's response - by Belinda B.on 12/7/2016

O.k….let's discuss. Is this even the same person I dealt with? Because that person never acted mad, upset….first asked for 2.5 months for both gowns, I told her that was fast and I have alot of orders I am working through ….and this is a direct quote taken from her e-mail : "Don't worry about the 2.5 month time frame. Take as long as you need to make them. :-) "
I literally just cut and pasted that…so there is no confusion. So is there a deadline?? This person seems so upset about things that make no sense, that's why I am confused. I mean, if you are upset, be a genuine person and tell the business that. Don't pretend everything is great and then write some confusing review. Regarding e-mails….she sent 35 to me, I sent 26 to her. So is that missing e-mails? or is that an excessive amount of e-mails for a customer to send. Custom orders go like this: discuss and go over details you want, check in now and then, and then wait for an e-mail regarding delivery. Unfortunately some customers send an excessive amount of e-mails that I am unable to respond to constantly. I have customers that send 50-100 e-mails regarding one gown order. I deal with it best as I can, whilst trying to make gowns. Now- she mentions excuses….I say I am still working through Halloween orders, I say I am sick once…and it is Thansgiving week another time. Are those excuses? or is that real life? She wanted a certain color lace on both dresses….I kept her posted about my search, showed her images of available lace colors online…even bought 10 yards of one lace she didn't like, so then I told her I would hand dye lace for her.
I think that is keeping her informed right? I confirmed the *three* different addresses she gave me. Is there a re-occuring problem as you say? I see about 1 bad review a year, I make over 100 gowns a year. After the end of this year, I will no longer be offering custom colors on my lowest price gowns. I will simply make basic inventory on those and sell them as in-stock items. This will make life much easier for me, and easier for customers…. So in closing here are my questions for you: am I happy that I searched the entire L.A. fabric district for the shade of lace you wanted? that I purchased 10 yards of something you didn't want? that I hand dyed the lace to the exact shade you wanted to make sure you were happy? that you think the dresses are beautiful and you are very impressed with them? that I paid $160 to fed-ex Saturday delivery to you? Answer: after your review, no…not really.
