Worst Construction Company I have EVER dealt With
|
Absolutely the worst contractor of any kind I have ever dealt with. I signed a contract on June 1, 2015 with the salesman's promise that the pool would be finished some around Labor Day. They didn't finish the permitting process until September 15, 2015 (3-1/2 months). They lied to me by trying to blame the city, but a neighbor in my development told me his permitting took only a couple of weeks.
Then it was like they fell into a black hole and disappeared from the known universe.
I tried calling the first week of January only to get a voice message that they were closed for two weeks for Christmas Vacation. "Really!" They are months behind in their work and still take two weeks off. It shows the lack of concern for their customers (more on that later).
As soon as they were back from vacation, I emailed them the second week of January (7 months) and told them that they had two weeks to start my pool or I would cancel the contract and the Notice of Commencement on the grounds of job abandonment, and demand my $4,000 deposit be returned. I was ready to sue for the return of the deposit.
That Friday, a guy (Eric) from the company showed up and started the demolition of my screen pool enclosure. He did a half-a**ed job and left when he was only about two-thirds done, with the promise that he would be back the next day. He did not show. By the way, he was not prepared to do the job, as evidenced by the fact that he did not even have a ladder. He stood on to of a sturdy bucket that held chlorine tablets and swung his saws all over his head to cut the horizontal support beams.
The following Tuesday, the subcontractor (all their work is done by subcontractors) showed up to tear up the old deck and pool and excavate for the new pool. Because part of the screen enclosure was blocking access, he proceeded to rip up a section chain link fence and gate to reach the excavation site. Had Eric finished his work, it would not have been necessary to tear up the extra fence and gate.
The excavators were just as bad. They proceeded to rip up a long run of sprinklers located near the pool patio. A completely unnecessary procedure had they taken a little more care excavating. Eric showed up and removed most of the rest of the screen enclosure, but he did so by cutting the horizontal beams with a saw all, leaving jagged pieces of metal beam protruding from the fascia. He also ripped the vertical aluminum supports from the concrete wall leaving behind jagged screws. I have asked Eric and Paradise to finish the job, but all I get are excuses and lies about why they can't do it. That is when they bother to respond at all.
Work proceeded slowly on the pool until the end of April 2016 (11 months), and then nothing. During that three months, a crew showed up to clean the site and level the yard so it would be ready for sod. The front end loader operator did nothing more that push dirt around. Rather than take the clean soil from the pile left behind, he just pushed it around onto the surrounding grass, killing huge portion of grass that should not have been damaged. Also, he left behind gravel. rocks. uneven ground, and one huge low spot. All of these could have been taken care of had he used the dirt in the piles. I inspected the job and immediately went to him and asked him to do a better job. He had just driven the loader onto the flatbed trailer and could have easily driven it off again, instead he copped an attitude saying, "Why didn't you say something before I put the loader on the 'frikkin' trailer." A heated argument ensued, and he drove off leaving my yard a mess.
I did manage to get Paradise Pools to send out another crew, but it was the same guy, so he gave me hateful looks and did not speak to me once. He did another half a**ed job and left.
It is now the middle of May 2016 (11-1/2 months) and I have a yard that is mess, an incomplete demolition of my old screen enclosure, and a pool that is filling with green water. The only reason I don't worry about mosquitoes is the hundreds of tadpole breeding in the green water eating any larvae that may appear.
The owners are nearly impossible to contact. It may be the fact that at least half the times i call, they are away on another vacation. The do not respond to emails, and from I have experienced, don't really care about their company's reputation.
Like other reviewers here, I wish the negative reviews had been posted before I became entangled in this mess, I would have used a competitor, who was only $3,000 more expensive. The small difference on a $43,000 pool would have been worth paying to get a quality job done in a reasonable amount of time.
My advice to anyone considering this company is to run away and find a reputable contractor. There is not a single positive review posted here. Also, if you want the straight scoop, forget about the BBB, they refuse to post my negative review, and have not taken action on the complaint I filed.
