Review 11/6/2009

In July of 2009 I received an email notification that someone was attempting to reach or find me from this company. I went to their web site only to discover that you had to take a 3 month subscription to find who was searching for me. Like an Idiot I signed up using PayPal. The actual service was satisfactory but not worth $36 for 3 months for me so on September 9th, I contacted them by telephone to cancel my account. They assured me that My account was set up to automatically cancel. ON September 22nd I contacted them by telephone again to confirm my cancellation. On September 22nd I received a email confirmation of the cancellation. On September 23rd. I received an email from them thanking me for renewing my subscription. I immediately contacted them by telephone at which time I was told that PayPal had automatically issued a payment for the subscription renewal. I was told to contact them which I did immediately by telephone. I was told that when I paid the first time MyLife had it set up as an automatic renewal which was never disclosed to me by MyLife. I was assured that I would by PayPal that I would need to have MyLife refund the money. I contacted MyLife again the same day (Sept 22nd) and requested a supervisor. I spoke to a Hector who assured me it would be taken care of. I again contacted PayPal who said it would take 7-10 days to get the refund posted. (Funny, it only takes them seconds to take your money!) I forgot about it but the next time I attempted to use PayPal I noticed it had never been refunded. Again I went through it with Paypal and finally lodged a complaint with their Fraud department where I was assured it would be taken care of in two days. After four days I checked again t still was not done. I contacted Paypal for the uptenth time and finally got an agent who did a conference call with me with MyLife.com and we finally got the funds released from MyLife. My best estimate is that I spent close to a total of 3 hours trying to get my lousy $36 back. I did tell the PayPal agent that they should consider automatically notifying their customers a few days prior to an automatic subscription renewal. This would have eliminated all of my wasted time and the time I took from their customer service people. My Recommendation: DO NOT SING UP FOR MYLIFE.COM. The time it takes to cancel costs more than the subscription.
