On June 12,2009, my Mother called Mike Diamond Plumbing to check a water leak from her toilet. She got their phone number from the phone book. When the service man arrived, it was determined that there was a faulty fill valve in the tank and a disconnected flex hose, which is all one item. The quote given to her to replace this valve was $508.44!!!!! She told the serviceman that she thought this was a very excessive quote and that she would not have it done for that price. He then told her he would ask his manager if they could give her a discount. He then came back with a quote of $383.61!! She told him that she still thought it was too high, and that she wouldn't have him do it. She then called me, her daughter, and I told her not to have him do anything and just pay him the service call fee and that we would be there to take care of the problem. She paid the service fee of $76.41. We replaced the fill valve/flex hose ourselves for a little over $7.00!!!!! It took my husband not more than 15 minutes to replace the valve. I have to wonder how many unfortunate, single, elderly people are victims of these inflated charges. P.T.
