Review 2/22/2010

JAS Marine is by far the worse marine service firm that I have dealt with. I received their contact information from Volvo Penta's website and thought I would give them a shot. I submitted a work order on 1/6/2010 indicating that I needed to have my drive shaft seals switched out. Once they began work they never called me to let me know the status or what issues they were finding so that I could make a decision on my vessel. Instead they proceeded to complete unauthorized work on my vessel. When I had called about 2 weeks into it, they decided to let me know what was going on and that total costs were at $3k. I had told them that I wanted them to stop working on the boat and that I would come and pickup my drive shaft and bring it to another business. They indicated that they felt bad that they never reached out to me to get authorization and that they would charge me $1,400. Instead the final amount of the invoice was $2,913.
The problem that really bothers me is on the work order they have verbiage that "Additional Deposits will be taken for parts and labor as the job progresses, without any notification unless requested". I had requested notification and was never shown that respect.
