On Saturday, June 30th I brought my vehicle in for the first time to Independent repair. I requested an estimate for, front end alignment, and electrical / tailight repair due to wiring issues. I was given an estimat4e of 155.00 for both of these items. There was a discussion PRIOR to me leaving the location where it was CONFIRMED that the individual sensor causing my taillight problem could not be purchased seperately, and that an entire wiring harness would be required. I was told by Jim that, he would call me on Tuesday with an update. I never recieved the call and on Wednesday I recieved a call from another employee that my car was now ready and that the total was 322.00. This was alarming to me because, a) I did not approve that amount b) did not receive a telephone call. On the following saturday morning when I went in to pick up my vehichle, I spoke with Jim regarding these charges. At that moment, he revealed to me that they spent "4 hours trying to repair the wiring that was existing" and that this accounts for the additional amount. (incidentally, I was told that the difference in the cost of sensor vs. entire harness was about 40-50 dollars. ) When I confirmed with Jim that I HAD NOT recieved a call from him regarding this, he seemed shifty and I questioned WHY WOULD YOU SPEND 4 HOURS WORKING ON SOMETHING (SUPPOSEDLY) THAT YOU ALREADY TOLD ME WOULD HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED?? I spent 322 bucks for only half of the work I requested and cannot afford.
