I recently filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about Harmony Gold regarding my experience with the moderator of their website; Robotech.com. Harmony Gold states essentially that they have a policy on their Robotech.com website in which the moderator finds anything typed in the Robotech.com message boards that he finds objectionable, may remove such material.
As a user of their Robotech.com website for almost 10 years, I have been a regular contributor to their message board on Robotech.com.
Their website moderator claims that political discussions are objectionable.
I understand that he may believe that politics are objectionable and that they should not be allowed in the message boards of Robotech.com. However he has indirectly claimed (to Harmony Gold's General Counsel) that discussions of economics are now also considered objectionable.
My complaint against Harmony Gold was based on the fact that a message that I posted in a message board called "Questionable News" in which the topic was funny, and usual news stories; was deleted by the site moderator. I contributed a copied and pasted news story that fit the criteria of funny and unusual news; this was what the site moderator deleted.
In addition, I also complained that the site moderator locked a thread in which I was discussing economics as an academic subject, was locked.
After complaining to the BBB, I questioned Harmony Gold and I challenged them to explain to me what was offensive about my posts and the only explanation they gave me was that the site moderator thought that what I typed was offensive. Harmony Gold chose to avoid answering my question and therefore decided to ignore my concerns altogether.
Since Harmony Gold did not provide direct answers and did not properly address my concerns (that I have asked their general counsel in my BBB complaint); I do not recommend that anyone do business with this company. My complaint demonstrates that Harmony Gold does not care about the concerns of their customers. Harmony Gold has also shown me that they do not treat their customers with the proper dignity and respect by failing to properly address my questions and concerns.
