I signed up with Farmers Law Group and its affiliated Phillips Law Center in an effort to change a 7/1 ARM I have on a rental. The Chase loan has a 6.65 percent interest rate. I contacted them in California via an 800-number and thought I had checked them out well online. Turns out I missed some things. I've sent them tons of records, so I suppose I'm in great danger of identity theft. Initially I sent them a check for $2,295; then I stopped payment on it. I wanted out of the deal but they convinced me to stay. I agreed to send them $1,500, which I also then sought to prevent them from cashing, but I was too late.
A loan "negotiator" who is supposed to contact Chase left me a message two days ago, but I haven't called her back. I doubt I'll ever get my money returned, and I am unemployed. I've been convinced by others that this is a scam. I really ignored the signals because I wanted so badly to get new loan terms. I was in constant contact with someone from the firm via e-mail and phone so it wasn't as if they cut me off after I refused to pay the $2,295.
I'll likely seek legal help to see if I can recoup my $1,500. I'm supposed to send them the balance of the money in late September. The people at Farmers are so convincing, but don't fall for it. Never give anyone money up front.
