I've worked for Demand Studios for over a year. It's been a positive experience overall, and I would have recommended them as an employer until recently.
Over the past weeks, Demand Studios has decreased the offered pay rate for certain types of articles, meaning I have to write more articles to earn the same income. They've tightened restrictions on sites allowed to be used as resources, effectively blacklisting every single website that competes with one of theirs. This means articles actually take longer to write because it's so difficult to find good resources.
The final straw came last week, when Demand Studios signed all its long-term employees up for a "discount" site that was little more than a marketing scam. They enrolled us without our consent and provided the third-party company with our names, email addresses and ZIP codes. This was all done without our knowledge. The discount site has collected our information and is now spamming us with unsolicited emails, and will not let us cancel our accounts.
I will continue to work for Demand Studios, as their intentions seem to be good. However, I think a mistake of this order is quite egregious and ought to be documented.
