I contacted Cindy Harper at Clairon on 9/10/10 regarding an FHA streamline refinance for my current loan. Through various emails and phone calls she was able to provide me an unsecured quote for an interest rate and a rough estimate of the fees involved after 3 business days on 9/14/10. I reviewed this quote and sent it to my current lender as well, who was able to match it. My current lender had a turnaround time for all inquiries was under 30 minutes and Cindy's responses could take up to 24 hours. With mortgage interest rates changing daily and the fact that I never received a guaranteed interest rate in writing from Clarion, I informed Cindy that I'd be going with Quicken, she proceeded to initiate an email barrage of insults back and forth with me, stating that I had "wasted her time" and that I should "thank her for getting me a lower rate". She even went so far as to suggest that she could refer me to a psychologist for explaining to her why I chose to pursue business with my current lender instead of Clarion and pointing out her unwarranted conduct.
I have never encountered such unprofessionalism in dealing with a lender, or any professional company for that matter. I informed her that I would be registering a complaint with the BBB and her response was that I was "not even a customer" and that my complaint would be invalid.
