Review 12/10/2010

Be careful to check facts claimed by their salesman. First and foremost: He claimed that their windows contained NO plastic and that they were made of acrylic. Acrylic is a plastic (look it up). The CDW web site clearly says that they are made of vinyl. Vinyl is no doubt a plastic (look it up). He used the fact that other companies products were made of vinyl as a case against them. I received a call from their sales chief after my initial posting of this comment. The window frames are indeed made of a superior grade of PVC plastic known as uPVC which by any other name is still a plastic. Second: Carefully check their web site for warranty information. Their was a lot of confusion on this topic. Third: For retrofit installation on condo's make sure that you clearly understand the implications and method of installation and how it relates to the HOA covenants and insurance. Again, it was a source of confusion. Fourth: CDW's glass is NOT heat treated or tempered. Their web site claims that the glass is stronger due to being thicker than standard glass.
I actually have little doubt that their product is good. My neighbor has them and is pleased with their product and installation. The product stands for its self, just be careful with the details . When comparing products of other manufactures to CDW's, investigate as much as possible. CDW's web site is a good source of information.
After my initial posting of this review I almost immediately received a call from CDW's sales manager to clear up any problems. I think my modified comments above reflect that. I am impressed with their product and have purchased 4 large windows from them. My rating is based on their sales and especially to their quick response to the complaints I had in my original posting. I will update it after installation and let you know how it all goes.
