DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!! RIP-OFF!!!!!!!!
|
I contacted Authority Tax Services in Sept. 2013. I owed the IRS just under $12,000 and I wanted to see if what they said in their commercials about reducing my liability to the IRS could help me. I went to their Irvine office with all the paperwork they requested and met with 2 ATS representatives. Both of them assured me I was a good candidate for an offer in compromise and that they could help me with this issue. I paid them $2300 to handle my case. I was told at the time it would be a 2-3 month turnaround. Well during that time there was the government shut down and they said it delayed my settlement by a few weeks. I called in December 2013 and I was told they submitted an offer to the IRS and they are waiting on their response. Another month went by and I called and they said they are still waiting. Fast forward to March 4, 2014. I call them and they said my case manager was no longer with the company and they would assign me a new one. His name was Jarrett. He was awesome and showed honest concern for how long this case had took. Unfortunately, he had to be the bearer of bad news. After all that time, Jarrett found that I was not a candidate for an offer in compromise and his only recourse was to set me up on a payment plan. I could have done that myself. When you call the IRS, that is the only phone line they answer. I spoke with Jarrett's supervisor Bella Lee and she stated they could only do an offer in compromise for $20,000 minimum. I asked her why I wasn't told that when I met with the what I found out to be "sales" people in the first place. To me that would be common knowledge if that is your line of work. She said they only deal in general terms and she pointed me to the accounting dept. to process my refund. I spoke with someone there who said they were reviewing my refund and it would take 4-6 weeks. I asked for a written conformation of this on March 6, 2014. I never received it. On March 11, 2014 I called back to check the status of my refund. I was hung up on after they said they were transferring me 3 TIMES!!!!!! I finally talk to a guy named Aaron Anderson. He said he was a supervisor (later on I found out he was NOT) and he was overwhelmingly rude and mean. I was reasonably upset with being hung up on and Aaron Anderson treated me like I had no business inquiring as to what I paid $2300 for. He was a class A-1 jerk to me. He even went so far as to tell me when I asked for his manager to tell me she wasn't there and she didn't have a voicemail. I am still waiting to hear back from accounting about the disposition of my refund. Aside from Jarrett who is a honorable and respectable individual everyone else I talked to was rude, mean spirited, and will not care about your concerns what so ever. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH AUTHORTY TAX SERVICES.
