I have had a wholesale account with American Apparel for the past few years and while I can always count on their garments to sell, their backend and customer service leaves a lot to be desired. One issue I am having a hard time with is the return policy based on their shipping error. I was shipped the wrong garments and while AA was quick to respond when I caught the error I was billed twice for the same garments when they shipped the correct order to me. I was given a link to print out a prepaid return label but was not provided any shipping materials to do so, putting the burden of correcting the mistake on me. After contacting my sales rep to ask about when I could expect to be credited for the garments I've paid for twice and was told as soon as they receive them. However it's been over a week and I haven't been credited and reading other complaints online I'm hearing about people who have gone months and have not been reimbursed.
While I understand that mistakes get made and I'm willing to deal with that, I take exception to the fact that AA made a mistake and yet I feel like I'm being penalized for it. I cannot access the funds that I have been billed for and therefore cannot use that money that I should not have been billed for in the first place. I think this is something AA needs to seriously address in their shipping policies.
