Just received a call from a company called Advantage Distribution Centers representing themselves as the party who currently services our copier(s). He asked me to go to the copier and write down the model number for him. I was suspicious, so I asked him which one he wanted me to check. He listed 5 different makes that it "might be" and said he was sorry he couldn't be more specific. I asked him for his company's name again, to which he replied "ADC" and said that he was "updating manufacturer records". I told him our copier was none of those brands he listed, to which he replied, "so what is it?". I let him know that I was aware of the company that services our machines, and asked him a third time what this was actually regarding. He abruptly hung up.
I looked up "Advantage Distribution Center" online to find a number of complaints about this company slamming fraudulent orders of toner (with invoices $600 and up!) to unsuspecting companies after making calls exactly like the one I received.
