Cost to transfer timeshare deed with Transfer America?
|

Need to get rid of a timeshare interval to which I have a deed (also converted to RCI points usable any week).
Scheduled a meeting for December 4, 2010 with a rep from Transfer America, web site www.transferamerica.net. Their staff travels around the USA to arrange transfers of timeshares.
TrustLink.org forum has 10 reviews for this company but no one posted data on what they charge you to do a transfer of your deed. Wonder why no one mentions the costs?
Also missing any info on what contract terms they require or who handles the money and closing of the deed transfer. Usually there’s a resort transfer fee, plus closing costs, plus cost to transfer RCI points. Maybe also a title search.

Findout,
You should be able to get those specific questions answered by someone at the company. If their not willing or are unable to answer your questions, then you may want to be weary. The company has no complaints at this time, and as you mentioned - several reviews here on TrustLink.
I saw that one of the reviews mentioned that the company wanted $1,000-2,000 up-front to transfer, another said $4,000.
There are companies that will take title to your timeshare using all of the procedures required by the timeshare company. These companies require that you pay them to take the timeshare off your hands. It sounds counterintuitive but it does get you out from under the continuing obligations and the truth is, there are almost no buyers for timeshares.
Perhaps you can revisit TrustLink after you attend their seminar and let us know if they answered your questions.

A timeshare transfer is a process where a timeshare owner passes his timeshare unit to someone else. The owner transfers the timeshare to the other person, along with a new contract and the responsibility to pay all the annual fees: http://www.timesharescam.com/blog/120-timeshare-transfer/
