Home owner,
Regardless of the favorable reviews from any person on this site, it is emphatically against the laws in every State, specifically CA, to charge any upfront fees to homeowners seeking mortgage restructuring under a modification application.
The reason for this law is in response to the massive amount of fraud committed against homeowners either paying their last dollars to an organization that could NEVER deliver a favorable modification and due to companies providing advice to home owners to intentionally miss mortgage payments and send those funds to secure their service. In most cases, the home owners lost their homes, could not receive refunds and then ruined their credit unnecessarily which made it nearly impossible to rent a residence once they lost their homes.
Keep this in mind, if you had excellent credit, sufficient equity and sought a refinance offer the only fees you would incur would be for those costs not allowed under escrow in most cases - the appraisal and the credit report. Neither the Broker nor the loan officer can be compensated until the loan documents are signed and escrow was completed. When you sign the loan documents it means you are agreeable and satisfied with your financing offer. The same is true for modification assistance. Until you sign the agreement which signifies you agree to the changes - you should NEVER pay any funds to a company acting as your advocate for that change.
I agree with Bill M. for you to follow the consumer protection laws of this State and our Nation. Don't intentionally submit yourself to become a victim of companies that are conducting their business outside the allowances of State law. Whether you are a home owner in this State (CA) or any other state - a CA company is definitively restricted from taking upfront fees for anything - loan audits, evaluations, modifications, processing fees, Deed in Lieu negotiations, lien settlements, etc.
If you would like a FREE evaluation without any obligation, please call me otherwise good luck in your continued search for assistance.
I look forward to speaking with you soon!

Dee that is actually not true. You can pay a company for a Forensic loan audit by law. I am letting you know I got a great deal period the end. I feel if they do the work then pay them for their time. I read your BS site, I guess you work for free..? How many mods do you actually get your clients it sounds like many walk away with dignity..? BTW you site looks like my 5 yr old put it together. It is truly pathetic! I wouldnt let you clean my house let alone negotiate anything about it. You are a joke and probably dating Bill M or something. Does Bill M like girls now..? That is even questionable and you should mine your own business. Maybe help Bill find a new gig. This site is not a place for free advertising for your nonsense BS services. Take care and I would suggest you leave home negotiations to the experts. Now BEAT I

Stevan, I am not sure about your file or anything regarding it but I received a super low rate on a 30 yr fixed on my case. I also referred my sister in law and she got a great deal as well and her file was done quicker then mine. I would hang in there and be patient. Wait on their call. As far as "Bill M" I do not understand why you have an opinion either way. A grown man commenting on businesses he has never worked with or has any afiliaion with. Looks like he just has it out for this particular firm. i would suggest he gets a job and stops playing on the internet all day. Just my two cents. Everything I see you right is based on your opinion and no actual facts..? Grow up!

I think it is wise to question the source of any positive feedback on Consumer Advocates Group. If you want to know about their real track record check with the BBB, the Department of Real Estate in CA, also the Attorney General's office. There are many complaints against this company. Do your homework before you give them any money. Beware of their 100% money back guarantee, you will have to go to small claims court to get your money back. If you have been ripped off by them follow through by contacting all of the above agencies and filing a formal complaint. They should be stopped and put out of business before they take advantage of other people struggling to keep their home. Consumers unite! Put the word out!
