If you paid by credit card, I would recommend contacting your credit card company to file a dispute with them. I checked witht he US Bankruptcy Court and wasn't able to locate anyone under Mondial Catering who had filed bankruptcy, so your next course of action (since you know where they now work) may be Smalls Claims Court.

Unfortunately paid by check!
Another question...how easy is it to file in small claims court if I do not live locally?

You mentioned having removed some reviews about the company. Why don't you post one here on TrustLink about the caterer and the restaurant business she was associated with?

Are you able to re-post the negative reviews? If so, you should add to the reviews what she promised then failed to follow through with. You can also contact the newspaper local to that area and state what company she is a part of now. If they choose to run an article it will put negative light to the company and may cause a drop in business. If she is a part owner of the current business you can do that without them trying to claim damages. If she is just an employee of the current business then you cannot say anything negative about the current business due to civil suit possibilities. I can tell you that the very likely reason she asked you to remove those reviews is because it was causing her either employment problems or financial backing problems due to the negative comments.
